First Thought
I didn’t have high hopes getting into this book since King’s Cage was a hard read for me. But that put aside, I found that the dark-blue cover was more attracting than the first two books. Ok so, this book is seriously a monster (662 pages) and I am a bit discouraged reading it since it’s so big and the prequel was so hard to get through. Overall nothing more piqued my interest since this book was exactly made like the rest.

Strengths
This book finally redeems itself by for once bringing the promises of war. All the changes of alliances, drama & scheme made it easier to set a good pace to read. This book did a great job portraying the strong woman character but by seeing everyone different POVs we can see all the different feelings that they are trying to hide (Evangeline is jealous of how strong Mare looks & Mare is scared to show how much Maven broke her)

Weakness
Mare’s character got way weaker compared to the first two books and throughout her POVs, I was getting annoyed with her presence. Mare decides not to become a “Red Queen”… Wait excuse me! Isn’t the first book of the series literally called “Red Queen”? I wanted to scream so bad at this point. This is what I was waiting for during the full long journey. There is so much going on all at once in this book that I didn’t remember anything (Who was Thomas & how did he die?). My head was working overtime to remember all the little different information.

Personal Thoughts
I love that the book had different POVs. It was a change for a once. You could actually put yourself in the divers character’s shoes and see their own struggle through the novel. I couldn’t sit down and read this book all at once since there was so many plot twists and my mind couldn’t register all the information at once. Because of this, it took me way too long to get through the book (seriously a month). Do I regret it? NOPE! I loved seeing a character showcase its weakness that people around the world go through. I believe that Aveyard did a great job showcasing Mares PTSD of the actions that happened in King’s Cage.

Conclusion
I want to give this book a good review so bad, but the fact that it took me a month to read and I actually forced myself to finish it, well that will just not happen. This is the last book and well I am happy about it! Even thought I loved this story’s plots & twists, I cannot have more. Let’s close this world once and for all, but let’s be real I really do want to know what happens next.
