"FEODORA AND HER MOTHER LIVE IN THE SNOWBOUND WOODS OF RUSSIA, IN A HOUSE FULL OF FOOD AND FIREPLACES. TEN MINUTES AWAY, IN A RUINED CHAPEL, LIVES A PACK OF WOLVES. FEODORA’S MOTHER IS A WOLF WILDER, AND FEO IS A WOLF WILDER IN TRAINING. A WOLF WILDER IS THE OPPOSITE OF AN ANIMAL TAMER: IT IS A PERSON WHO TEACHES TAMED ANIMALS TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES, AND TO FIGHT AND TO RUN, AND TO BE WARY OF HUMANS.
WHEN THE MURDEROUS HOSTILITY OF THE RUSSIAN ARMY THREATENS HER VERY EXISTENCE, FEO IS LEFT WITH NO OPTION BUT TO GO ON THE RUN. WHAT FOLLOWS IS A STORY OF REVOLUTION AND ADVENTURE, ABOUT STANDING UP FOR THE THINGS YOU LOVE AND FIGHTING BACK. AND, OF COURSE, WOLVES."
A BEAUTIFUL YET BORING BOOK.
STRENGTHS
The idea of the storyline was very intriguing and made me want to learn more about the main character even after I had finished the book. This book cover is mostly the reason why I purchased the book, and I do not regret it, as it is an eye catcher on the bookshelf. Russia, wolfs, and a girl as the lead character, what else can you ask for? Some chapters were so well written and I was excited to finish the book (even though the plot was everywhere).
WEAKNESSES
Even if the plot was very good, after a while it would just get boring and because of this, it made me put down the book more than once. At first, I fell in love with the main character (Feo) but oh my, was I ever wrong! I understand she is just a kid but how is this little girl still alive, like really how is it possible. I felt like this character wasn’t realistic. Because this book was based in Russia I wished there were more culture & history revealing throughout the book. Yet it keeps on disappointing. They ride the wolf… Wait, what, this is not possible is it?
CONCLUSION
Overall this book deserves 2 stars only for the reason that some parts of it were very well written and made you excited. But after a while, you would get bored again, it is a never-ending mere go-round (around and around we go). I believe if this book was rewritten (in an adult perspective, rather than listening to an annoying little girl) it would probably have made a best seller, in my opinion. We are missing the CULTURE, in every aspect of the storyline.
