Queen of Hearts Saga #1
"This is not the story of the Wonderland we know. Alice has not fallen down a rabbit hole. There is no all-knowing cat with a taunting smile. This is a Wonderland where beneath each smile lies a secret, each tart comes with a demand, and only prisoners tell the truth. Dinah is the princess who will one day reign over Wonderland. She has not yet seen the dark depths of her kingdom; she longs only for her father’s approval and a future with the boy she loves. But when a betrayal breaks her heart and threatens her throne, she is launched into Wonderland’s dangerous political game. Dinah must stay one step ahead of her cunning enemies or she’ll lose not just the crown but her head. Evil is brewing in Wonderland and maybe, most frighteningly, in Dinah herself. This is not a story of happily ever after. This is the story of the Queen of Hearts. "
The reason that I bought this book was for the eye-catching bold colours choice of the cover. The only downfall is that white can get dirty very quick. I love how on the back cover you could find drawings of important details that will happen in the book.
A hatred for her father while always wishing for acceptance, a love for a brother that would always end in rejection, Dinah will soon find that life on the throne is bigger than what she anticipated. Colleen Oakes brings us the mysteries of Wonderland once again with a thrilling and deadly story.
The book “Queen of Hearst” wasn’t terrible but it lacked the aspect of excitement that was promised in the book’s summary. The main character, Dinah, could have been written more smartly for the reason of a princess and future queen made her “emotions and stupidness ” annoying and intolerable. Even do I hate the rudeness of the king’s heart, I have to admit that he was my favourite character overall. Each small detail and emotions would make the character develop through the story. What book doesn’t have a small romance blooming? Well, in this novel the author has left us hanging and waiting for the idea that some love story will happen but instead the romance didn’t have any development. I found that the plot was dragging; therefore, it took some effort to pass some of the chapters. Overall I believe that this book has let me wonder what should be the rating, as my hatred/love relationship can’t decide and that’s why I am giving it 2.5 stars.
